Shurakuen

Shuraku-en is the Japanese garden in Yamakita, Tsuyama-shi, Okayama. It’s designated in a national scenic spot.

Nagatsugu Mori of Tsuyama feudal clan seigneur invited a gardener from Kyoto and made them make as a villa in 1655-1657. There was 3 times more than present of lot area of the those days near by about 74,700 square meters (about 256 m of east and west and 292 m of north and south). Chugoku-sanchi, as shakkei, when, 4 islands float on a long pond in north and south, and Fugetsu-ken and Seiryo-ken stand up. A view from the pondside is wonderful and excellent weeping cherry tree, azalea and water lily can see a flower in each season.
