Historic Villages of Shirakawa-go and Gokayama is the steep rafter-roofed village crowd who has that in Shirakawa-go and Gokayama in Gifu. It’s selected by national preservation district of historic buildings. It was registered with the world’s cultural and natural heritage in December, 1995.
There is about 100 houses of big and small at present all together in the area where a steep rafter-roofed building is left most. The heavy snowfall area where Japan is eminent. It’s also used as real life now. A present-day life is harmonized with the great outdoors which bring living of a village up and long history excellently centering on the steep rafter-roofed house where hundreds of years tick away. It’s lit up from January to March, and the fantastic scenery is seen.
