Otaru canal is the canal in Otaru-shi in Hokkaido. It has been completed in 1923.
Canal of about 1140 m of full length which buried an offing and was made and about 40 m of width. Many goods collected and distributed at a stoop of Hokkaido pioneering. The width is 20m on the south side of the canal, and a promenade is established.
Stone depot group and historic landmark are here and there. The fire of the gas light is burned in dusk, and the view by which the sunset is left lightly in the sky is wonderful. It was tourist attraction in Otaru and 100 elections of cityscape was won in 1996.

Otaru Snow Light Path
“Otaru Snow Light Path” is the fantastic event with which a light of a candle compares old streets. It has started with a volunteer of Otaru-shi people in February, 1999. The float ball candle which made the old fishing gear which twinkles with the water level of the canal a motif. The snow candle and the art object by which soft Ko burns.
