Nihondaira is the scenic area in the boundary of Suruga ward of Shizuoka-shi, Shizuoka and the clear water ward. It’s called “Nihondaira” around the mountain top in aridoyama of altitude 308m.
Mt. Fuji and Izu-hanto are seen over Suruga Bay from Nihondaira. Streets and a clear water harbor in the clear water ward are spread under the eyes, and you can also wish for Akaishi-sanmyaku on the north side. It’s also a spot of the night view. It’s tied with a ropeway to Kunouzan Toshogu. There is a plum orchard in a mountain top and there are Nihondaira zoo and Nihondaira stadium in the circumference.
It was also designated by a Japanese scenic spot in 1959. Even a Japanese tourist spot contest of hundred pieces in 1980 was the 1st place.

Shizuoka-ken is also famous as a place for noted product of tea. You can get a bird’s-eye view of Suruga Bay from a tea plantation, and Mt. Fuji can also be seen farther.
