Kumamoto Castle

Kumamoto-jo is the Japanese castle which was in present Kumamoto-shi, Kumamoto Chuo-ku. I’m another name “Ginnan-jo”.

Kato Kiyomasa bet and built the time of 7 years from 1601. A castle area is about 760,000 square meters of eastern and western 1.6km, 5.3km around 1.2 km of north and south and castle level. The castle gate by which 49 and a turret gate are 18 and others counted 29, and the turrets including the big and small donjon were the huge fortress where actual fighting was assumed then. The present donjon was reconstructed based on citizen’s donation in 1960.

It’s also learned about as a famous place of a cherry tree and selected in 100 elections of Japan cherry tree famous place.

“Shokun no ma” in an inner citadel palace. A ceiling painting is 60 altogether and a gorgeous aglet is put between the grid of distributed solid black japan. Luxurious lacquer coating and aglet are distributed to each place, and the gorgeous room is must-see.
