Higashiyama Zoo and botanical gardens

Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens are facilities of the municipal management in Chikusa-ku, Nagoya-shi, Aichi. It opened in 1937.

A zoo raises about 500 kinds of animal such as an elephant, a giraffe, a penguin and a koala. “The killifish house of the world” where killifishes of the world were collected. “Child zoo” where you can touch a small animal. About 7000 kinds of plant can enjoy a large greenhouse in a botanical garden. There are a big Ferris wheel and playground equipment of a roller coaster in an amusement park in a neighborhood.

The annual number of visitors of 2010 is about 2,180,000 people following Ueno Zoological Gardens in Japan.

Phoenicopterus ruber (Beniiro Furamingo) lives in Caribbean basin and the Galapagos Islands. A large bird with long leg and neck. The light pink and the vivid red are made the color of the body.
