Aomori Nebuta Matsuri is the summer festival held from August 2 to August 7 in Aomori-shi, Aomori. It was designated as Japanese important intangible folk cultural properties in 1980.
“Nebuta” is the huge garden lantern doll which stuck Japanese paper on bones and did the color. About 15 of child Nebuta and about 15 of large Nebuta move at night on August 2 and the 3rd. About 20 of large Nebuta moves at night from the 4th to the 6th, and each prize of “Nebuta jackpot” is announced on the 6th. About 20 of large Nebuta moves at noon on the 7th of last day, and 7 of won Nebuta moves around Aomori harbor in the evening.
The pull hand which handles “Nebuta” dynamically, the musician of the band where a drum and a pipe are played and “Hanto” which wears peculiar yukata and floriated bamboo hat, dances and jumps. These, in a body, about three charms an audience.
It’s said to be three grand festivals of northeast as well as Tanabata Matsuri in Sendai and Akita Kanto Matsuri. More than 3,000,000 tourists spread every year and visit.
